This year he will be awarded Honorary Doctor by Aalborg University.

Professor Mike Savage, London School of Economics, will be appointed honorary doctor this April at a ceremony at Aalborg University. A day before the ceremony Savage will conduct a guest lecture.

The title of the lecture will be “The return of Inequality”, and it is related to his new book.

Mike Savage has conducted research within a wide range of sociological fields. The Professor has had a continuous focus on social class, social inequality, social stratification and class identity throughout his career from it took off in 1984 with his PhD thesis titled "The Social Bases of Working Class Politics: The Labour Movement in Preston 1890- 1940".

Mike Savage has done significant research on globalization, localities, social transformation, different forms of capital including social capital, mobility, voluntary  associations and different methodological issues related to the study of class and social transformation.
